When did I get into homesteading and gardening?

I’ve always enjoyed working with my hands. I’ve been doing arts and crafts, painting, making candles, etc. for years. I only recently have had the opportunity to do these types of additional projects once I moved outside of the city, though I did dabble when I was living in a condo!

How did you get into a hobby like that?

I grew up in the country. My most cherished memories are of wandering through the garden and picking ice cream buckets full of peas, beans, and carrots on a sunny day. I moved to the city, so I was only able to enjoy the freshness of garden vegetables at the farmers market, or through my small condo vegetable garden. Now that I’ve moved to the country, I’ve had the opportunity to get back to my roots (pun intended). I’m still new to the hobby, but it’s something that makes my life feel very enriched. Last year was the first year that I really dove head first into gardening, but I still only dabbled in canning and preserves. This year I will be going full steep ahead into living a more self-sustained lifestyle.

What do you enjoy doing outside of taking care of the home?

I mentioned before that I’ve been into the arts for years, and as I’ve gotten older and more confident, I’ve gotten into modeling. Modeling is just another opportunity to flex my creative muscles. Like all things, I am always improving and learning more about it. I think I’ll always be an amateur in that sense.

What are your other hobbies?

When I’m not building, gardening, or modeling, I spend a lot of my time reading! I love non-fiction, and fiction! I read a ton, and love audiobooks. Feel free to visit my wishlist if you’d like to help me add to my collection! I’m crazy about learning, and I love the rush of learning new things, so non-fiction really scratches that itch. When I want to get lost in another world, fiction is usually my go-to, but I might also love to get lost in a good memoir. The hobby that I’m most curious about is mead-making. I’d really love to give it a go as soon as I have the spare time.

Do you love what you do?

I do! I live a quiet life, surrounded by my hobbies, passions, my two cats, and my dog. Life isn’t always easy of course, but I’m always trying to practice being grateful for what I have, even through the hard times.
